POGORIA – COLORFUL HEART OF DĄBROWA
BASELINE SITUATION
The challenge was to rebrand Pogoria Shopping Centre so as to set the direction for changes in the building’s architectural space. The main aim of such broad change was to enliven the public space in the area of Dąbrowa Górnicza where Pogoria Shopping Centre is located, including its adjacent areas (such as the square in front of the building, the characteristic footbridge, the park and green areas).
SOLUTION
The name of Pogoria comes from a group of water bodies called Pogoria, one of the favourite leisure areas of Dąbrowa Basin inhabitants. The round shapes of the letters make a reference to circles on the water, a motif that was exploited also in the previous logo and is visible in the round arrangement of the square and the building. Introduction of a whole range of vivid colours and the use of recurrent shapes (quarter- and semicircles) has become a solution for the identification system, which was used later on by the architects we cooperate with as the baseline motif for planning and arranging the space of the centre.
RESULT
The result is consistency of the identification system and of the architectural designs and arrangements that are aimed at revamping the public space of the centre. Interior design elements and landscape architecture were designed on the basis of the characteristic elements of the identification system. Also, the public space around Pogoria Shopping Centre gained a playground and arrangement of green areas inspired by solutions provided in our system. This is how the comprehensive process upgraded this part of the city and was welcome by both the inhabitants and the authorities of Dąbrowa Górnicza.
